WELCOME TO “CREATIVE JAZZ ORGANIZATION"

The Creative Jazz Organization’s membership proposed “The Gwen Cleveland Scholarship Fund” to provide money grants to students interested in jazz musical education from various New York communities. Many notable jazz artists have blossomed in career playing from the Queens, NY area.

An initial contributor to this fund was “The Sydney Bechet Society," as well as others, including members of the CJO. Grants from the fund were issued to promising students to further their careers performing jazz music.

The Gwen Cleveland Scholarship Fund also represents deceased musicians that have contributed to this art form for  many years for all to enjoy.

The list below includes famous known artist who performed occasionally with CJO musicians through many years leaving wonderful memories:  Bross Townsend, Etta Jones,  Frank Foster, Frank West, Jazz Berry Jam, Roy Haynes, and Stan Hope.
